MANILA, Philippines — The outcome of the investigation on the death threat of Vice President Sara Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez is now up for evaluation by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Speaking at a Palace briefing on Monday, DOJ Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already completed its probe.

“We were informed already that the NBI [National Bureau of Investigation] finished its investigation. But there is a need to evaluate it further, and we are sending prosecutors over to look at the evidence,” he said.

Fadullon said the prosecutors will evaluate the evidence that is under the custody of the NBI to determine whether or not a case can now be filed at the DOJ or if it needs further build-up.

“The NBI and the DOJ are working closely together to ascertain the evidence we have on hand,” he said.

In an open letter last November 25, Duterte claimed that her murder threats were “maliciously taken out of logical context.”

She said this after the National Security Council noted that it considers all threats against the president as “serious and a matter of national security.”

All these statements came up after the vice president, in a press conference, claimed that she had instructed someone to kill Marcos, his wife, and Romualdez if she would ever be assassinated.
