Elaborate floats adorned with floral motifs or horror-inspired designs marched in formation along the streets of Manila during the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 Parade of Stars, a star-studded affair that also marked the commencement of the festival’s 50th edition.

Gorman will become chairman on Jan. 2, 2025. He will succeed Mark Parker, who is leaving after serving on Disney’s board for nine years.

Unemployment among young people and college graduates jumped from 13.2% in June to 17.1% in July, as some 12 million students entered the labour market, before the August figure rose to its highest level since the National Bureau of Statistics decided to change the methodology to not include students in December 2023.

Ten intricately-designed floats, each representing an official film entry to the MMFF, reflecting their genre and storyline.

Just as vibrant were the lineup of celebrities that joined the parade, among them were Vice Ganda, Vic Sotto, Dennis Trillo, and Judy Ann Santos who came to promote their films.

The motorcade commenced at 2:00 PM from the Kartilya ng Katipunan in Ermita and concluded at the Manila Central Post Office, after spanning a 12-kilometer route.

The distance was notably longer than the previous year’s 8.7-kilometer route. The procession traversed major thoroughfares, including the motorist-heavy Recto and Taft Avenues, allowing thousands of fans to have a glimpse of their favorite stars.

Prior to the parade, the cast of the 10 official entries met and greeted the press. As of posting, the fan concert at the Manila Central Post Office is currently on going with performances from Bamboo and Jason Dy await.

All the stars also gathered in front of the monument at the Kartilya ng Katipunan to pose for a one big group photo before on boarding their floats to begin the parade.
