Sylhet Strikers have won the toss and have opted to bat first - a decision Ariful Haque regretted badly as they were bundled out for just 116 in 18.1 overs. It was a dismal batting performance as none of the top order managed to settle in.

George Munsey (4), Zakir Hasan (5), and Rony Talukdar (9) fell early. The middle order didn't offer much resistance either, with Ahsan Bhatti (28), Jaker Ali (24) and Ariful Haque (12) among the few to reach double figures.

The collapse continued as Nahidul Islam (8) and Kadeem Alleyne (0), failed to make contributions.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib (1) and Sumon Khan (0) were the final two wickets to fall, as Faheem Ashraf (5/7) and James Fuller (2/23) led the charge with the ball. Nabi (2/26) and Rishad Hossain (1/24) also played their roles in the Strikers' downfall.

Fortune Barishal then chased down the target of 117 in just 16 overs. Tamim Iqbal (52) and Mushfiqur Rahim (42) played brilliant unbeaten knocks, anchoring the chase.

Dawid Malan (9) fell cheaply, but Iqbal and Rahim's innings saw Barishal home with relative ease, guiding them to an 8-wicket win.

The Fortune Barishal will now face Khulna Tigers on January 27 while the Sylhel Strikers will take on Durbar Rajshahi at the same venue.

With this result, the Barishals now climb to second place with 14 points from 9 games. Meanwhile, the Strikers sit at the bottom with only 4 points from 10 matches.
